Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo stated that the Nobel Prize awarded to him was not only for him but for all his people, the East Timorese. He added that he would use the money for the public good especially justice, advocating peace and providing scholarships for financially challenged university students. He would also use the money to help he diocese’s commission of justice and peace. He would construct a diocesan major seminary.
